Josephine Earp: A Woman of the West

Josephine Earp: A Woman of the West

Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp was the wife of Wyatt Earp, a gunman and gambler of the Old West. Josephine met Wyatt in 1881 in the frontier town Tombstone. The two moved from boomtown to boomtown and lived a life on the edge together.

Many of the myths and legends of the Old West originate from stories about Josephine and Wyatt and the two have become almost mythological characters.

The story of Josephine Earp: A Woman of the West was quite interesting. This young lady started life has Josephine Sarah Marcus, she became Sadie Mansfield, then Josie Behan, and finally Josephine Earp. This book tells the story of a free spirit who not interested in being a domesticated woman, and homemaker when she was young. She was something of a wild child/woman in the early part of her life and worked as prostitute. There’s so much that this short book contained about her life that it was well worth the read. She was born in the wrong time where the opportunities for women were few. I highly recommend reading this book. I will read other books written by this group.

This book is very different story from the puff and fluff that I have read in other books about Josie Earp.
This account does tell the FULL story. It covers everything from Josie’s parents immersion to Wyatt’s death, and then Josie’s death.
If you are curious to know more about Josie and Wyatt, then you don’t want to miss this read.

It is okay with facts but so short it was not worth the read and the facts I have found elsewhere. Because it was factual I gave it two stars.
